Sumptuous Retail ? Why not !

Last week my husband and I were walking around Oxford St. and Regent St. doing some shopping and we got into the H&M store at Oxford Circus.   I was impressed with the store!

The design made me feel like if I was in a chic boutique, a huge one!  Especially with that fitting rooms with a chill out area with plush seats where my hubby can seat and relax while I try on some clothes! Perfect! Don’t you think? I almost forgot I was in a retail store!!

Because let’s be honest, and this is only my opinion.  I understand the concern to provide a great customer service; but as a customer there is nothing more uncomfortable that a store personnel following you around the store and asking you if you need something.  I might be wrong but that’s how I feel.  Instead of that we can create a wonderful and sumptuous environment for our customers and spoil them without the need to say anything.  From their very first step into the store they feel that they are in a unique place.  And H&M had proved that you can do it and keep your prices low.

Every customer that sees a great retail design knows that all that work is for them to feel good and spend time and of course money in the store.  And by the same rule when they see a boring retail store, with uncomfortable fitting room, no space to walk around because everything is so full of racks to maximize the space; there’s a feeling that the store cares more about the sales, rather that the shopping experience.

If I had to design a retail store I will make a list of rules like this one:

CitizenM Hotel

I've been trying to look some nice Hotels from a Design perspective. Although I appreciated the luxurious design of most of the Hotels in London I love when I see something fresh like this.

Concrete Architectural Associates created a jung and colourful Hotel. With a unique taste to mix Furniture and material. All I can say is that I felt in love! This is my cup of tea!!! :)

Will you dare...?

I get so bored every time I see kid's room decorated in blue or pink.  I ask my self what's wrong? There are not enough colours in the world that everybody ends up doing the same?
And then I get so happy when I see rooms like this!!  I love it!
Will you dare to use these colours in your daughter's room? I Know I could!!! and OMG with the swing of course!

I hate ugly boxes...

So since I was little I don't know why but I loved to organize everything, my closet, my room and I always look for webs with new ideas. Today I founded one "chez larsson". God! This girl knows how to organize! I love it!
One of the projects I like is this first kid box.

Definitely I am going to do it so I can put away those ugly bandage boxes and have everything together in one beautiful box.Have a nice day!! :)

Watchstrap + boring drawer

So like a couple years ago my Hubby and I went to Paris, It was my first time there and I have to say that I loved it!! I wanted to see some street markets, they are just wonderful so we went to this one (sorry I don’t remember the name but they were specialise in furniture) I bought 5 pairs of letter watchstrap to used them as a drawer handle.  Time went by until I remembered the other day and uses them with this set of drawers from IKEA.  It was perfect!!

I needed a table as well for the studio so I also bought this closet door for 15 GPS and there it is!!  A fabulous place to work with a great light, isn’t?

Autumn it’s here

So the autumn it’s here!!! How exciting!!! I know I know it’s weird, everybody loves summer and I do too but not as much as I love autumn J I have such a good memories when I was little like coming back from school and my mom waiting for me with a sandwich a chocolate milkshake and Sesame Street on the TV!!

Those memories make me think about how we can give our home an autumn look.  With 3 homey colors as an inspiration I made a collage of how I see this fall.

Hope you like it.

Little Tiny Studio

I don'k know what's going on with me and the little spaces.  I feel so atracted to them! maybe because for me it's a real challenge to distribute this tiny spaces.  Or maybe because all my apartaments have been so little that I have allways been forced to find out how to get everything inside.  How can you have a bedroom, kitchen, livingroom, bathroom and storage with barely 30M2?

Right now I'm so happy!! We have found a little tiny studio in the center of London!! And I can't wait to have the keys and give it our special touch!!!

As I said it's really small but with a lot of natural light, good finishes and a terrace!! so I've been doing some researching and this is what I found.  We must take into account that is a rental so I'm a little restricted :(

Since I just have one closet this is a good idea! Use the doors to storage all the complements with clips.

Budget is another issue.  I love this! A perfect DIY proyect for the sunday! I can't wait to go to the flea markets!!!
Ok! Thank God I don't have this problem! The kitchen is really nice for a studio but it is not always like that so here's a solution.

I let you here the links where I found this.  Have a nice day!!!

In the last few months I have been away from updating the blog because of 3 projects I been working in: one the graphic design course from almost 6 months that I love! and finished recently. Another one the change of residence to London due to my husband's work. And finally and most delightful one, designing a logo for, in my opinion, one of the best computer companies that exist in Spain Sidertia.

Sidertia is a young company but with a great experience in the computer consulting world. As a designer was a big challenge because software companies as well as legal firms do not usually have original corporate image. So I didn't know if I was going to have much or little freedom to create the corporate image. Luckily for me I had it!

Based on the 3 areas of the business and the relevance of the interrelationship of all the areas to each other I developed a simple and fresh image. As a symbol 3 squares with rounded corners to convey lightness, softness but also strength and security, since the square is the most stable geometric figure. If we rotate slightly transmit motion which is the adaptation results of all the areas to each client and each situation as it is a company that is training and certifying continually.

The colors I've chosen, as it can not be otherwise, are those related to the computer's world RGB (red, green and blue) and the name in 3 different percentages of black to distinguish the 3 areas.

Finally put a cursor in front of the name, I thought it was funny and had the feeling that the name is being written at that very moment. I hope it burn in the minds of all customers!

By the way, the clients were very pleased and I was even more if that's possible!! jeje!!

I leave you with the final result!

Here is an easy and inexpensive way to make your own memorie-gifts for a special occasion.
In this case it is a baptism. I didn't like the idea of giving a figurine that serves to no other  purpose than to collect dust on the shelves of our friends and family.  I wanted something that could be used and cheap.
Among the many things I think of, candles was a good idea. At first we wanted to make them ourselves (my sisterinlaw and I) but after asking prices we realized that ... of course ... IKEA already have them at the same price.
In previous entries I put an invitation of very autumnal tones baptize as oranges, yellows and neutral grays. We got these Ikea candles with their cups all for 1.30 € or so.
With transparent paper and a beautiful orange tape with dots voila! we got the memories-gift.
With my tag punch I made a small label where we write by hand the baby's name and date of baptism.

Here you can see the result, I hope you enjoy it!!

And this is at the restaurant...

The centerpieces were made with flowerpot, lollipops and oreo cookies crushed.  Into the flowerpot we used the green foam for the flower arrangements so the lollipops could remained standing.
